Nothing Phone (2) users to get Android 14 update soon

Google launched several new products — including the Pixel smartphone and the Pixel Watch 2– at the “Made by Google” event last week. Soon after introducing new devices, the tech giant also rolled out the first stable version of its latest Android operating system, Android 14 for Pixel phones. Google has also pushed the stable update’s source to the AOSP project. The company has also confirmed that the update would be extended to other phone-making brands like Nothing.

The Carl Pei-led company has shared a new post on social media platform X, In this post, Nothing has confirmed that it is set to roll out the Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 for Phone (2) users. The company also mentioned that the upcoming update will be rolled out soon.

Nothing launched its latest smartphone, the Phone (2) in July. The smartphone runs on Nothing OS 2.0 which is based on Android 13. In May, the company also dropped the Android 14 developer preview for Nothing Phone (1) users.

The company has also stated that more details regarding the rollout of Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 for the Nothing Phone (2) along with instructions on how to take part in the beta program will be available tomorrow (October 11).

Android 14 to bring new features to Nothing Phone (2)
Android 14 comes packed with several new features. Amongst these, there’s a redesigned customisation picker that will make it easier for users to personalise their wallpapers and home screens.

The introduction of Ultra HDR technology in Android 14 will bring support for HDR images. This will result in photos that showcase more vibrant colours, brighter highlights and deeper shadows.

Moreover, Android 14 will also enhance data sharing and device security. Users will receive prompts to set a more secure six-digit PIN which will also simplify the device unlocking procedure.

The latest software also includes additions such as Flash notifications, improved Accessibility settings, and multiple features designed to be inclusive for those with varying vision and hearing needs.
