Facebook was working on WhatsApp for a long time to enable Dark Mode. They released dark mode to Instagram earlier. Since, Theme Settings in WhatsApp is still going on with Beta testing, you’ll not be able find the new update in the Google Play Store. You will be in able to see the WhatsApp Messenger Beta update in Google Play Store if you’re a Beta Tester. Just update with the Beta version to experience the WhatsApp Dark Theme.

How To Become A Beta Tester In Google Play Store

Beta Tester Program will allow you to update apps that are released as Beta in Google Play Store. Companies often releases Beta version of their newer apps before releasing the Stable version of it. This enable users who wants to try new features early. Learn more about Beta test the Google app for Android and got to opt-in page enable it.

Click on the Become A Tester button to opt-in for the Beta Tester Program. This program may not be accepting new entries though at times.

Make sure the Google account is properly selected at the top of the page.

Find the Theme setting in the Display section at the top of the Chats Settings page of WhatsApp Messenger app.

Go to Settings -> Chats -> Theme to enable the Dark mode in WhatsApp

A pop-up will show you the choices of making the App Theme, Light or Dark. One more choice, Set by Battery Saver will enable the Dark mode automatically upon enabling the Battery Saver on Android.
